The Department of Psychiatry is pleased to welcome Catherine Lord, PhD as its featured speaker for the Irene Jakab Memorial Lecture. Dr. Lord is Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Education at the UCLA Semel Institute of Neuroscience and Human Behavior. Formerly, she was the Founding Director of the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain, a joint effort of Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University.  She is best known for being one of the authors of standard diagnostic instruments including the ADOS and ADI-R.

Join experts from the Center for Integrative Medicine and their colleagues specializing in psychiatry and pain medicine on Saturday, December 1st for a special conference focusing on practical, patient-centered approaches to integrative pain management. The conference will provide clinicians with a better understanding of the neuroscience of pain and equip them with the tools to better assess pain and incorporate integrative care options into pain management treatment plans.

Dr. Shaun Eack and the directors of the Center for Interventions to Enhance Community Health (CiTECH) at the University of Pittsburgh cordially invite you to attend the Center's inaugural lecture and workshop on December 6th. The Pitt Department of Psychiatry Distinguished Lecture Series welcomes Earl Miller, PhD to Pittsburgh on December 7th. Dr. Miller is the Picower Professor of Neuroscience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

This Clinical Grand Rounds uses the case of a pregnant woman with severe anxiety to illustrate the diagnostic, treatment, and system challenges that occur at the intersection of psychiatry and obstetrics. The panel, consisting of specialists in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Perinatal Psychiatry, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Dialectical Behavioral Treatment, review critical concepts which inform the treatment of this patient.
