This tiered review process typically begins within the Career and Research Development Seminar (CARDS) small workgroup group sessions. Through this process, career development award applications are initially developed as concept proposals for the Department’s Chair, David Lewis, MD, to review. Once the proposal is approved by the Chair, a special career development award committee is assembled for the postdoctoral trainee. The committee members evaluate the grant application in several rounds of reviews, helping the post-doctoral trainee to refine and finalize their application for submission.
For other types of funding applications, our Department requires that the proposal be evaluated through its internal review system, provided through the Research Review Committee. This internal review process provides an intensive level of professional feedback and support that assists trainees and their mentors with preparing highly competitive applications.
Post-doctoral trainees who are interested in applying for a K award should contact Grant Jackson (email@example.com).
