University of Pittsburgh Awards Tenure to Alexandre Dombrovski, MD
We are delighted to announce that Alexandre Dombrovski, MD, has been appointed Tenured Associate Professor of Psychiatry by the University of Pittsburgh.
An expert in geriatric psychiatry and suicide, decision science, functional neuroimaging, and computational psychiatry, Dr. Dombrovski studies the neuropsychological basis for how and why a person makes the decision to end their life. Dr. Dombrovski currently leads two National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) grants investigating decision-making in suicidal behavior, and is contact PI on an NIMH R01 focused on neurocomputational studies of mood-related momentum dynamics linking reward learning, valuation, and responsivity. Dr. Dombrovski’s findings have substantially improved understanding of the neurological underpinnings of impaired decision-making.
He is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, and has published his research in scientific journals including JAMA Psychiatry, Biological Psychiatry, and Neuropsychopharmacology.
“Dr. Dombrovski is an internationally recognized expert on decision-making in suicidal behavior. He has conducted innovative and original research that is critical to improving our understanding of suicide and to advancing the development of therapeutic interventions for a particularly vulnerable population,” said David Lewis, MD (Chair, Department of Psychiatry). “He is a highly effective educator who makes many important contributions to our academic community at Pitt.”
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Dombrovski!
