The Department of Psychiatry Welcomes Caitlin Conner, PhD, Lisa Mengwall-Weinstock, MD, and Maggie Whelan, MD, PhD, to the Faculty

The Department of Psychiatry is delighted to announce that Caitlin Conner, PhD, Lisa Mengwall-Weinstock, MD, and Maggie Whelan, MD, PhD, have joined our faculty.

Caitlin Conner, PhD
After completing a clinical internship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. Conner earned her PhD in clinical science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2017. She then joined the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as a postdoctoral associate in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). 
Dr. Conner is a member of the conference planning committee for the Autism Spectrum and Developmental Disabilities Special Interest Group of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. She is also a member of the American Mindfulness Research Association, which honored her with the American Mindfulness Association Professional Development Award in 2015. Her research focus will include mindfulness-based treatment research in those with ASD. 

Lisa Mengwall-Weinstock, MD
Dr. Mengwall-Weinstock earned her MD from New York University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in adult psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College, and a residency in child and adolescent psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia and Cornell Universities. She was co-chief resident at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York from 2018–2019. Dr. Mengwall-Weinstock is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her areas of clinical service at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) are in the Diagnostic Evaluation Center and with child outpatient services.

Maggie Whelan, MD, PhD
At the University of Pittsburgh Dr. Whelan earned her MD from the School of Medicine and her PhD from the Department of Epidemiology (Graduate School of Public Health). She was a postdoctoral associate in epidemiology at Pitt Public Health, and then undertook a triple board residency and fellowship at Tulane University. Dr. Whelan is a recipient of the Laughlin Fellowship from The American College of Psychiatrists and was selected to participate in The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Educational Outreach Program. Dr. Whelan’s clinical role is in child outpatient services at WPH.
