STAR-30 Research Symposium

Services for Teens at Risk (STAR-Center) Research Symposium
Highlights the Center?s Significant Impact on Research, Training and Clinical Care

For over 30 years the Services for Teens at Risk program (STAR-Center) has served as a laboratory for the development of best practices for assessment, prevention, intervention, postvention, and training. Under the leadership of co-founder and director, Dr. David Brent, STAR-Center has successfully integrated education, intervention, and research into a seamless whole.

On May 3-4, 2017, Dr. Brent welcomed over 180 participants to Pittsburgh for the STAR-Center?s 30th Anniversary Research Symposium. The symposium featured international leaders whose work has contributed to the research and clinical success of the STAR-Center. Many of these investigators have incorporated findings from STAR-Center studies into their own research and clinical programs.  Symposium participants learned about cutting-edge research and the latest evidence-based treatment and prevention approaches for youth suicide, and celebrated the STAR-Center?s significant impact on the field.
