Distinguished Scientist Lectures

The Department is pleased to welcome Dr. Daniel Pine, Chief of the Section on Development and Affective Neuroscience for the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Intramural Research Program for a special lecture on Wednesday, March 13th from noon to 1:30pm.

The Department of Psychiatry is honored to welcome Joshua Gordon, MD, PhD, Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) to Pittsburgh as our featured speaker for the Distinguished Scientist Lecture series.

Rene Hen, PhD, Professor of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, and Pharmacology, Columbia University will present a Distinguished Scientist Lecture on April 5, 2019 as part of the Department of Psychiatry Lecture Series. Dr. Hen directs the Division of Integrative Neuroscience at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and is a core investigator at Columbia University's Kavli Institute for Brain Science. Dr. Hen’s research examines the contribution of serotonin (5-HT) receptors to pathological states such as depression and anxiety.

We invite you to join us on May 31st for the Distinguished Scientist Lecture featuring the work of Reisa Sperling, MD, MMSC. Dr. Sperling is the Director of the Harvard Center for Alzheimer's Research and Treatment, Director of Clinical Research for the Memory Disorders Unit at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Director of the Neuroimaging Program at the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her studies concentrates on the early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

The Department of Psychiatry welcomes Deanna Barch, PhD from Washington University on November 8, 2019 as the featured speaker for our Distinguished Scientist Lecture series.  Dr. Barch is Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences, Psychiatry, and Radiology and serves as Chair of the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences.
