PittMed is engaging in a challenge during the month of February to increase our collective understanding of fostering equity and belonging in our curriculum and learning environment.

Faculty will have 15 opportunities for growth in this area and will be asked to keep an activity log and complete the activities at their own pace. The challenge will begin on February 1st and conclude on February 28th, however the materials will remain available for those who would like to continue to engage with it and learn from it. 

Join us for the next Research Equity and Community Health (REACH) Health Equity Seminar on April 20, 2023 at 11:00am when we welcome Rachel Vaughn-Coaxum, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, as our featured speaker.. Dr. Vaughn-Coaxum will present a talk titled "Considering Context and Language in Clinical Diagnostic Interviews for Depression with Diverse Youth Populations."

In recognition of National DNA Month, the University of Pittsburgh Office of Health Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is pleased to present "A Community Epigenetics Perspective: Can Health Outcomes Be Shaped Through Gene Expression?" This virtual discussion brings together five researchers to explore the role epigenetic research plays in helping to decrease health inequities.

The University of Pittsburgh Autism Center of Excellence will sponsor a special webinar on April 28, 2023 from 12:00-1:30pm focusing on suicidality in neurodiverse communities of color. This webinar, coordinated by researchers, self-advocates, parents, and clinical experts in autism, crisis support, and suicide, will blend learned and lived expertise, cultural considerations, and neurodiversity to examine suicidality through an intersectional lens.
