The COVID-19 Vaccine Arrives at Pitt Psychiatry

In late December 2020, UPMC implemented a roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine for its health care workers and staff. At UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH), as at other UPMC institutions, patient-facing staff and physicians comprise the first group to receive the vaccine, with nearly 400 doses administered at WPH last week. During this first week in January, an additional 590 individuals are scheduled to receive their first dose of the vaccine.

As members of the WPH community are vaccinated against the virus, all physicians and staff continue to wear masks while onsite at WPH, wash hands frequently, practice social distancing, and engage in additional safety protocols to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Below, members of the Department of Psychiatry receive the COVID vaccine.
