The Department of Psychiatry Welcomes Research Faculty Member Francesco Donati, MD, PhD

Pitt Psychiatry extends a warm welcome to Francesco Donati, MD, PhD (Research Instructor in Psychiatry).

Dr. Donati received his MD and his PhD from the University of Milan (Italy). He completed psychiatry residency training at San Paolo Hospital in Milan, where he worked with individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis.

In 2023, Dr. Donati came to Pittsburgh to conduct postdoctoral research training with Fabio Ferrarelli, MD, PhD (Associate Professor of Psychiatry), investigating the effect of non-invasive brain stimulation in schizophrenia. In his role as Research Instructor, Dr. Donati continues this work, studying altered prefrontal oscillatory activity and fronto-parietal connectivity in individuals with schizophrenia. He employs non-invasive brain stimulation approaches—including theta burst stimulation and a combination of transcranial magnetic stimulation with simultaneous EEG, in combination with clinical and cognitive assessments—in early course schizophrenia patients.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Donati!
