Erika Forbes, PhD, Elected to Brain & Behavior Research Foundation Scientific Council
We are pleased to announce that Erika Forbes, PhD (Professor of Psychiatry, Pediatrics, and Psychology), has been elected to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) Scientific Council. The BBRF is the top non-governmental funder of mental health research grants. The Scientific Council reviews and selects the most promising research proposals with the greatest potential to lead to breakthroughs in mental health research.
Dr. Forbes is a nationally and internationally recognized expert on the role of neural reward circuitry in the development of depression during adolescence and young adulthood. She was among the first to articulate the importance of understanding the role of positive affect in depression, and has developed multiple paradigms for the assessment of reward response, including a monetary reward task that is widely used in the scientific community. Her current research examines developmental pathways of dopamine in adolescent depression, as well as the phenotypes and neural mechanisms of anhedonic depression in adolescents and young adults.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Forbes!
