UPPDA Presents Two Department Postdocs with Travel Awards

The Department of Psychiatry is pleased to announce that two of its postdoctoral fellows were selected by the University of Pittsburgh Postdoctoral Association (UPPDA) to receive Travel Awards. 

Maya Lambiase, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in the Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine Research Training Program directed by Karen Matthews, PhD, earned her doctorate degree from the University at Buffalo/The State University of New York.  Her research examines physical activity, sleep and cardiovascular disease risk in women and children.  Dr. Lambiase?s UPPDA poster featured her work on Assessing the Bidirectional Relationship between Physical Activity and Sleep in Older Women.

Michelle Sidor, PhD is a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Colleen McClung's laboratory in the Department's Translational Neuroscience Program.  Her research uses molecular and systems-level tools to uncover the neurocircuit elements and neuroplastic events driving manic-related behaviors in a mouse model of mania. Dr. Sidor's UPPDA presentation focused on Chronic Optogenetic Stimulation of Ventral Tegmental Area Dopamine Neurons Drives Distinct and Separable Features of Manic-like Behavior.

The awards were presented to Drs. Lambiase and Sidor at the recent Eighth Annual Postdoctoral Data & Dine Symposium in recognition of their outstanding poster presentations.  They will receive a travel award to attend a scientific meeting or professional development conference.
