Dr. Blair Promoted

The Department of Psychiatry is pleased to announce the promotion of Kimberly Blair, PhD to the rank of Associate Professor of Psychiatry. 

Dr. Blair is an accomplished clinician educator who has dedicated her career to providing quality care, enhancing access to care, and promoting evidence-based treatments in clinical services. She earned her PhD in applied developmental psychology from George Mason University and was a member of the Duquesne University faculty prior to her recruitment by the University of Pittsburgh. In 2005, Dr. Blair was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry by the Pitt School of Medicine, and Director of the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) Matilda Theiss Child Development Center.  

Under Dr. Blair's leadership, the Matilda Theiss programs have thrived. This state-of-the-art treatment center provides early childhood mental health services to young children with psychiatric disorders and to those children who are at high risk of developing psychiatric or developmental difficulties. Dr. Blair has expanded program services to include Interactive Mobile Parent and Child Therapy, a Therapeutic Nursery and Preschool, an Early Childhood Outpatient Program, School-Based and Community Behavioral Health, and the Early Childhood Trauma Treatment Center. She has disseminated her findings and clinical program developments through numerous lectures, workshops and seminars throughout the United States and has published several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.

Dr. Blair's reputation as an expert in early childhood behavioral health has resulted in invitations to join several early childhood community, regional, and state committees such as the Young Child Wellness Council of Project LAUNCH (Allegheny County Department of Human Services), the Southwest Regional Key Leadership Committee, and the Pennsylvania Early Childhood Mental Health Advisory Committee. Her efforts and successes in providing quality programming have also sparked the interest of local partners, most recently the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, resulting in collaborations that have yielded creative and innovative models of delivering mental health services to young children.In addition to her clinical and clinical administration duties, Dr. Blair has also been extensively involved in training residents, psychology interns, undergraduates, and practitioners within the community.
