The Department of Psychiatry Welcomes New Research Faculty Member Kelsey Magee, PhD

Pitt Psychiatry extends a warm welcome to new faculty member Kelsey Magee, PhD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry).

Dr. Magee earned her PhD in clinical psychology from Case Western Reserve University, having completed her clinical psychology internship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She then came to Pittsburgh for postdoctoral research training in the Department’s National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded Innovative Methods in Pathogenesis and Child Treatment T32 training program

Dr. Magee’s research is dedicated to improving our understanding of prenatal and postpartum maternal mental health, focusing on identifying biobehavioral markers of resilience. Her work aims to develop interventions that promote positive mental health outcomes for mothers and their children. She currently leads an NIMH-funded K01 award that examines whether positive childhood experiences and prenatal biobehavioral resilience predict positive postpartum mental health and well-being among individuals who have experienced chronic stress. Dr. Magee has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and presented her research at the Annual Flux Congress, the American Psychological Association Annual Meeting, and the Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions of the Society of Behavioral Medicine.
