Tejal Bhojak, MD, Recognized by School of Medicine for Teaching

Congratulations to Tejal Bhojak, MD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry), who has been honored for excellence in teaching by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr, Bhojak received a Clerkship Preceptor of the Year Award at the University of Pittsburgh’s annual Curriculum Colloquium, which recognizes faculty clinical preceptors who consistently provide outstanding clinical instruction in the clerkship setting. The Psychiatry Clerkship is a four-week experience centered on inpatient and partial hospital behavioral health care.

Dr. Bhojak is an attending physician in the UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital Integrated Health and Aging Program, one of the largest inpatient geriatric mental health units nationwide. She has provided clinical supervision for third- and fourth-year medical students since 2018. Dr. Bhojak’s students have noted her enthusiasm for teaching, as well as her skill, particularly around inspiring stimulating discussion. One student remarked, “Working with Dr. Bhojak was an incredibly formative experience. I am so grateful to have worked with her because her teaching forced me to be prepared and receptive to feedback every day.”
