UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital Resident Alum Loren Sobel, MD, MS, Honored by the American Psychoanalytic Association
We are pleased to announce that Loren Sobel, MD, MS has won a Candidates’ Council Psychoanalytic Paper Prize, a prestigious national award given by the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA).
Dr. Sobel is a UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) resident graduate, as well as a graduate of the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Center training program in psychoanalysis. He is a member of the volunteer faculty at WPH and is active in the psychotherapy training, supervision and leadership for WPH residency programs.
The Prize recognizes authorship of an outstanding paper on a psychoanalytic subject. Dr. Sobel’s award-winning paper is entitled “The Imaginative Bridge to Relational Contact: from the Random to the Meaningful.” He will read the paper with a discussant response at the APsaA national meeting in February 2020.
“It is an honor to have received the American Psychoanalytic Association Candidates’ Council Psychoanalytic Paper Prize. I am deeply thankful to my mentors, teachers, and colleagues that have supported me through the process of writing this paper,” said Dr. Sobel.
