American Psychiatric Foundation Presents Dr. Katherine Wisner with Symonds Award

Congratulations to Katherine Wisner, MD, MS, Professor of Psychiatry, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and Epidemiology on receiving the 2012 Alexandra Symonds Award. The Board of the American Psychiatric Foundation presented Dr. Wisner with the award in recognition of her demonstrated leadership and outstanding achievements in the field of psychiatry.

The award was established in 1998 by the Association of Women Psychiatrists (AWP) with the American Psychiatric Association (APA), and is given annually to a female psychiatrist who has distinguished herself in fostering the advancement of women?s mental health in the fields of clinical services, research, and/or education. This award is named for Alexandra Symonds, MD, founder of AWP, who devoted her whole professional life to further appropriate treatment for women patients and equitable opportunities for psychiatrists.
