Stave Off Anxiety as They Grow Older
Timothy H. Monk, DSc, PhD, Professor of Psychiatry and Clinical and Translational Science, was featured in a recent Time Magazine article highlighting his collaborative study (with colleagues at the University of Wisconsin) of 59 children and their parents. The children were followed for 13 years. The study showed that babies who had more dependable regular routines at the age of 1 month were less likely to be anxious during their early school-age years (ages 6 - 13). Dr. Monk theorizes this may be due to both physiological and environmentally influenced factors connected with the biological clock.
