Aaron Koenig, MD Selected for ASCP New Investigator Award
Aaron Koenig, MD, a PGY4 resident, has been selected as a 2014 New Investigator Award recipient by the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology. The award will be presented to Dr. Koenig at a special awards ceremony at the organization?s annual meeting, which will take place June 16-19, 2014, in Hollywood, Florida. The theme of this year?s meeting is New Approaches to Mental Illness in the Era of the National Brain Initiative. As part of the award, Dr. Koenig will receive a stipend to attend and participate in the annual meeting, where he will take part in a full-day closed workshop led by experts from the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, academia, and industry; he will also have the opportunity to present a poster at the meeting.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Koenig is pursuing a career as a physician-scientist in the field of geriatric psychiatry. He has been recognized for his academic accomplishments throughout his career. As a medical student, he received a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship Award for his contributions to clinical research studies within the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Treatment and Research Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Koenig is also the recipient of a Janssen Scholar Fellowship Award from the American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education (APIRE), and was also awarded the Janet W. Colenda Scholarship during the second year of his residency to support his research activities within the Geriatric Mental Health Foundation?s Honors Scholars Program.
