Ann D. Cohen, PhD Presented with Hamilton Award
Ann D. Cohen, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, has been chosen as the recipient of the 2013 Hamilton Family Award for Basic Neuroscience Research in Psychiatry. The Hamilton Award is presented to an outstanding early career investigator in recognition of their work, and provides $10,000 to the investigator to advance their research into the basic science of psychiatry and for career development activities.
Dr. Cohen earned her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at UPMC in 2011. Her primary research interests focus on PET imaging to explore early detection of amyloid in Alzheimer?s disease using the amyloid imaging agent Pittsburgh-compound B, and studying Alzheimer?s disease intervention methods in animal models. She has published in several prestigious journals including the Journal of Neuroscience and the Annals of Neurology, and is also a member of the Society for Neuroscience and the Alzheimer's Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment (ISTAART).
