Dr. Heather Joseph Selected for ADHD Pilot Research Award
by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Congratulations to Dr. Heather Joseph on her receipt of a Pilot Research Award for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
The AACAP Pilot Research Awards, supported by The Elaine Schlosser Lewis Fund, encourage junior faculty and child and adolescent psychiatry residents to pursue research careers by providing grants of $15,000 to support pilot projects.
The award will support Dr. Joseph?s study entitled Understanding the Transmission of ADHD: A Laboratory Examination of Fathers with a History of ADHD and Their Children. She will examine the temperament and ADHD/ODD symptoms scores of preschool-aged children of fathers with ADHD and investigate paternal parenting in relation to offspring temperament and the father's ADHD symptom severity.
Dr. Joseph serves as the Chief Resident in the Psychiatry Research Pathway program and is a fourth year resident in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC (WPIC). Under the mentorship of Dr. Brooke Molina, Director of the Youth and Family Research Program, she has been engaged in clinical and neuroimaging research focusing on ADHD and other disruptive behavioral disorders.
