AACAP Selects Triple Board Resident Justin Schreiber, DO, MPH for Clinical Projects Scholarship

Justin Schreiber, DO, MPH, a Triple Board Resident at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC (WPIC), has been selected by the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) as the recipient of a Clinical Projects Scholarship.  Dr. Schreiber was selected in recognition of his Equip for Life project.

The Equip for Life initiative, developed by Dr. Schreiber and his colleagues, Drs. Stacey Cook and Christine March, is supported by the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.  It is designed to increase physical activity and therefore decrease obesity in underserved populations by providing sports equipment and information about community physical activity events at well child visits.  Dr. Schreiber and Dr. Cook created the Equip for Life project in response to findings by the Centers for Disease Control that childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the last 30 years.

The Clinical Projects Scholarship will support Dr. Schreiber's participation at the 62nd Annual AACAP Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, where he will present the project at a special session of the organization?s Systems of Care Committee on October 26, 2015.
