Maria Kovacs, PhD Promoted

Maria Kovacs, PhD promoted to the rank of Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry

Congratulations to Maria Kovacs, PhD on her promotion to the rank of Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  The distinguished professorship appointment constitutes the highest honor that the University can accord a member of the faculty.  Dr. Kovacs is an internationally recognized expert in childhood onset depression. Her work has laid the foundation for much of the subsequent progress in pediatric mood disorders.  In her career in the Department, Dr. Kovacs has built a program of translational research that has integrated clinical phenomenology, psychophysiology and genetics, and intervention research.  Dr. Kovacs is an accomplished and highly respected member of our faculty and we look forward to her future contributions to the Department and the field of psychiatry.
