Holly Swartz, MD, Elected President of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders

We are pleased to announce that Holly Swartz, MD (Professor of Psychiatry) has been elected President of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD). The ISBD fosters international collaboration in education, research, and clinical care to improve the lives of those with bipolar disorder and related conditions.

Dr. Swartz is an internationally recognized expert in optimizing psychosocial and pharmacologic treatments for mood disorders. She is known for her work in evaluating Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) as treatments for depression and bipolar disorder. Her research focuses on the role of IPSRT and pharmacotherapy in the management of bipolar II depression and IPT in the management of maternal depression, both in the perinatal period and in the context of high-risk families with psychiatrically ill offspring.
