One Wednesday, November 13, 2024 we invite you to join us for a Special Guest Lecture presented by Robert van Voren, PhD on The Long-Term Mental Health Consequences of the War in Ukraine.

Dr. van Voren, PhD obtained his PhD at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas (Lithuania) where also is currently Professor of Soviet and Post-Soviet Studies. He also holds academic appointments at the Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia and the University of Silezia in Katowice in Poland. In addition, In addition to his academic roles, Dr. van Voren serves as the Chief Executive of Human Rights in Mental Health - Federation Global Initiative on Psychiatry and the Executive Director of the Andrei Sakharov Research Center for Democratic Development at Vytautas Magnus University. His expertise has led to his role as a member of on boards of organizations in the fields of human rights, mental health and prison reform, and his position as an Honorary Fellow of the British Royal College of Psychiatrists and Honorary Member of the Ukrainian Psychiatric Association. Dr. van Voren has written extensively on Soviet issues, World War II, and issues related to mental health and human rights.
