Hard of Listening - Auditory Cortex Pathology in Schizophrenia

Robert A. Sweet, MD UPMC Professor of Psychiatric Neuroscience, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

Please join us on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 4:00pm-5:00pm in Lecture Room 6 of Scaife Hall for a special lecture and reception celebrating the appointment of Robert Sweet, MD as the UPMC Endowed Professor in Psychiatric Neuroscience and Professor of Neurology and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh. 

Dr. Sweet's appointment is not only an important honor for him, but also for the Department of Psychiatry as it recognizes his many outstanding contributions and accomplishments to the field of medicine.  Dr. Sweet’s research focuses on identifying neurobiologic mechanisms underlying the appearance of psychosis. He has been recognized for his scientific contributions and accomplishments through the receipt of multiple awards and honors including the Research Award from the International Psychogeriatric Association and the Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Sweet is also an extremely talented and generous teacher and mentor who directs the T32 “Training for Transformative Discovery in Psychiatry” funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and serves as the Co-Director of the Department of Psychiatry's Career and Research Development seminar for post-doctoral fellows.
