Fighting Misconduct Allegations Through Responsible Conduct of Research

Research faculty and staff and trainees and students engaged in research in the Department of Psychiatry are encouraged to join us on February 11, 2022 for a special presentation on the responsible conduct of research sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

We will welcome Craig S. Wilcox, PhD as our speaker. Dr. Wilcox is Professor of Chemistry in the Pitt School of Medicine and serves as the University Research Integrity Officer and Conflict of Interest Committee Chair for the University of Pittsburgh Office of Research Protections. He will address how federal regulations and University policy define research misconduct, and what investigators should do if they observe possible misconduct.  Attendees will also learn steps to take that can help reduce the possibility of research misconduct in their laboratories, and how good research practices can help them protect their lab and defend themselves in the event of false allegations of research misconduct.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS. The entirety of this program will be a lecture by the speaker(s). WPH is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. WPH maintains responsibility for this program and its contents. This program is being offered for 1.5 continuing education credits. The indicated number of clock hours of continuing education is provided through UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital’s Office of Educational Resources and Planning, a PA-approved provider of social work continuing education in accordance with all the applicable educational and professional standards of the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist.
