Conferences

The UPMC Psychosomatic Medicine Conference is a one-day meeting that will highlight local and regional talent in consultation-liaison (CL) psychiatry. Psychosomatic medicine remains a challenging field. Subspecialty areas in psychosomatic medicine make it more complicated to diagnose, treat, and refer patients with complex medical comorbidities. Providers need to provide best practice comprehensive psychiatric consultation evaluations with thorough consideration of psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial factors.

The Annual STAR-Center Conference will take place on May 4, 2018 at the William Pitt Union on the University of Pittsburgh Oakland campus.  The theme for this year's conference is "Modern Times: Assessing, Supporting, and Engaging Youth at Risk for Suicide in a Digital Era."

The Center for Public Service Psychiatry will host its annual conference on May 14, 2018 at the Elsie H. Hillman Auditorium in Pittsburgh, PA. 

The theme for the conference is Beyond the Bars:  Reducing the Impact of Incarceration on Children and Families. Details about how to register will be available on this page in the near future.

Plenary Speakers

The Department of Psychiatry will host its 18th Annual Department of Psychiatry Research Day on June 7, 2018 at the University Club on the University of Pittsburgh campus in Oakland. This important annual event highlights the diverse research taking place in the Department of Psychiatry by our talented faculty, postdoctoral researchers, trainees, and staff. It's also a terrific venue for networking, building new collaborations, and reconnecting with colleagues.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for September 4-9, 2018 for the next Joint Meeting of the Electroencephalography and Clinical Neuroscience Society (ECNS), the International Society for Neuroimaging in Psychiatry (ISNIP), the International Society for Brain Electromagnetic Topography (ISBET) and the International Society for Functional Source Imaging (ISFSI). 

Hosted by ECNS, this year’s joint meeting will focus on the increased utilization of EEG and neurophysiological measures in the clinic.

The 8th Annual Behavioral Health and Aging Conference is an excellent opportunity to learn more about how clinicians and caregivers are meeting the challenges of helping the elderly manage addiction and other mental health conditions. The conference will take place on September 6, 2018 from 8:00am-4:40pm at the Passavant Hospital Foundation Conference Center in Allison Park, PA.
