Behavioural Economics as a Tool for Chronic Disease Prevention and Treatment? Theory and Evidence

Eric Finkelstein, PhD Professor of Health Services and Systems Research, Duke University

The Brain, Behavior and Cancer Seminar Series welcomes Eric Finkelstein, PhD on July 22, 2021 when he will present a virtual lecture on "“Behavioural Economics as a Tool for Chronic Disease Prevention and Treatment? Theory and Evidence.”

Dr. Finkelstein is Professor of Health Services and Systems Research and Executive Director of the Lien Centre for Palliative Care, Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore and Research Professor, Duke Global Health Institute, Durham NC. In his presentation Dr. Finkelstein will introduce classical economic theory and deviations from this theory, (including time inconsistent preferences, loss aversion, probabilistic assessment bias and other biases) and their relationships to health and health seeking behaviors. He will present examples of how these theories can be used to potentially improve health outcomes.Date/Time:
