The Department of Psychiatry Welcomes UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital Resident Graduates Samantha Sahi, MD, and Peter Schartel, MD to the Faculty
Pitt Psychiatry extends a warm welcome to two new clinical faculty members:
Samantha Sahi, MD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry)
Dr. Sahi earned her MD from the University of San Francisco School of Medicine, and completed psychiatry residency training at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, where she served as chief resident for ambulatory services.
Dr. Sahi's clinical interests include collaborative care, autism, and developmental disabilities, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and intermediate levels of care. She provides clinical care in the outpatient clinic at the UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital Adult Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, the general adult Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Programs, and the Integrated Behavioral Health service.
Peter Schartel, MD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry)
Dr. Schartel received his MD from the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine, and came to Pittsburgh for psychiatry residency training at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH).
Dr. Schartel's clinical interests are in emergency psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and interventional psychiatry. In his clinical role, he provides psychiatric assessments for patients in crisis in WPH’s Psychiatric Emergency Services department, as well as ambulatory detoxification treatment at the Center for Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency Services.
