The Department of Psychiatry Welcomes New Clinical Faculty Members Patrick Frailey, MD, and Michael Rudnac, DO
Pitt Psychiatry extends a warm welcome to two new clinical faculty members:
Patrick Frailey, MD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry)
Dr. Frailey received his MD From Saint Louis University School of Medicine, then completed psychiatry residency training at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) in the Academic Administrator Clinician Educator track, and served as chief resident for inpatient services. He undertook additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Center.
Dr. Frailey’s clinical interests include severe, persistent mental illness; chronic psychotic disorders; psychopharmacology; inpatient treatment and acute crisis stabilization; medical education; patient education. He provides clinical care on WPH’s Comprehensive Recovery Services inpatient unit, working with individuals with acute exacerbations of severe mental illness diagnoses, and on the General Adult inpatient unit.
Michael Rudnac, DO (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry)
Dr. Rudnac received his Do from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, then completed psychiatry residency training at MercyOne Des Moines/PHC Consortium Program, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Rudnac came to UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) for a clinical fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry.
Dr. Rudnac is certified in Neurostar transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and has delivered recent presentations on long-acting injectable medications and on antipsychotic drug blood level monitoring. He serves as a consultation-liaison psychiatrist at UPMC Shadyside, and additionally provides outpatient clinical services at the Starzl Transplantation Institute at UPMC.
