The Department of Psychiatry Welcomes Christine Call, PhD, to the Faculty
Pitt Psychiatry extends a warm welcome to new faculty member Christine Call, PhD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry).
Dr. Call earned her PhD in clinical psychology from Drexel University, having completed her clinical internship at the American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital Clinical Psychology Internship program. Dr. Call then remained at the University of Pittsburgh for postdoctoral research training with Pitt Psychiatry’s National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded Clinical Research Training for Psychologists T32 program.
Dr. Call conducts research on eating behaviors, obesity, and food insecurity during the perinatal period. She currently leads a National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases K23 career development grant, “Longitudinal and Momentary Associations Underlying the Relation of Food Insecurity and Gestational Weight Gain: Toward Obesity Risk Prevention.” She additionally leads a grant funded by The Pittsburgh Foundation, focused on improving the measurement of prenatal food insecurity.
Dr. Call has published her research on perinatal eating behaviors in journals including Appetite, Eating Behaviors, and The Journal of Contextual Behavioral Science. She additionally co-authored a chapter on eating disorders in Kaplan & Sadock’s Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry. Dr. Call has presented her research at meetings including the International Conference on Eating Disorders, the Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, and the Annual Convention of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and has been invited to present her work at the Columbia Center for Eating Disorders (Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute), at Princeton University, and at the University of Pennsylvania.
