UPP Recognizes Contributions of Petronilla Vaulx-Smith, MD, PhD
with Appointment as Clinician Emeritus
University of Pittsburgh Physicians (UPP) has appointed Petronilla Maria Vaulx-Smith, MD, PhD to the rank of Clinician Emeritus in recognition of her extensive contributions as a clinician-educator and her outstanding service.
After completing the residency training program at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) in 1993, Dr. Vaulx-Smith was appointed Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and as an Attending Psychiatrist at WPIC. Her impressive career has included service as an attending physician in numerous WPIC clinical programs including Services and Research for Recovery in Serious Mental Illness (SRRSMI), the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Service and the Mood Disorders Module.
Dr. Vaulx-Smith embodies the quintessential qualities of the academic clinician-educator. She is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to patients and their families, and to the mentorship and training of the next generation of mental health professionals.
