The 9th Annual Sleep & Circadian Science Research Day Presents the Latest in Sleep and Circadian Science Research
The annual Center for Sleep and Circadian Science Research Day presents new research in the field, with more than 160 individuals attending the event.
Following opening remarks presented by Daniel Buysse, MD (Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry, Medicine, and Clinical and Translational Science UPMC Endowed Chair in Sleep Medicine), a clinical symposium presented “Hot Topics in Treatment of Sleep Apnea,” featuring speakers from the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, and the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine and the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Wendy Troxel, PhD (Senior Behavioral and Social Scientist, RAND Corporation), delivered the keynote address, “The Social Side of Sleep: How Relationships, Communities, and Policies Shape Our Sleep.”
Michelle Stepan, PhD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry), chaired a panel discussion on school start times, featuring speakers from neurology and nursing, as well as a school wellness consultant and student services school district leader.
The Tica Hall Data Blitz, named in honor of the late Martica “Tica” Hall, PhD (Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Clinical and Translational Science), was chaired by H. Matthew Lehrer, PhD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry).
A poster session co-chaired by Karen Jakubowski, PhD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry), showcased innovative research from Center for Sleep and Circadian Science trainees. Congratulations to the individuals below who received Outstanding Poster Awards in the following categories:
