28th Annual Pittsburgh Schizophrenia Conference

The 28th Annual Pittsburgh Schizophrenia Conference will take place Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel. This is the nation?s longest running scientific meeting devoted to exploring the latest research findings related to schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.  Internationally recognized experts will provide comprehensive reviews of advances in their scientific areas and emphasize the clinical relevance of the research.  The 2011 conference agenda covers a broad range of topics including the neurophysiology of schizophrenia; the significance of inflammation; the role of pharmacogenetics in the treatment of schizophrenia; and the possible connection between infection, cognitive functioning, and schizophrenia.  In addition, there will be a panel discussion addressing issues related to the closing of a state hospital.  The conference also features presentations by the recipients of the 2011 Pittsburgh Schizophrenia Conference Awards and the Gerard Hogarty Research Excellence Prize.
