Pitt Psychiatry at the 2023 National Update on Behavioral Emergencies

Pitt Psychiatry faculty and trainees past and present attended the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry (AAEP)’s annual meeting, the National Update on Behavioral Emergencies. Representing psychiatrists—as well as other clinicians, educators, and professionals—working in the emergency setting, the AAEP is dedicated to the advancement of evidence-based compassionate care for behavioral emergencies through research education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Below is a recap of Pitt Psychiatry news from the meeting:

Program Committee

Priyanka Amin, MD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry), served as co-chair of the 2023 National Update on Behavioral Emergencies Program Committee. Dr. Amin is additionally an AAEP board member.

“It was a pleasure to serve as the Program Co-Chair for the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry's 14th Annual National Updates on Behavioral Emergencies (NUBE) conference this year,” said Dr. Amin. “NUBE is the only conference focusing solely on behavioral emergencies, which are on the rise nationally. This year's conference was record-setting in the number of submissions, presenters, and attendees, with an extended conference length this year, more specialized tracks, a top trainee poster contest, poster session, and networking event with the AAEP Board. It was fantastic to see our department so well-represented.”
