Residents Hold Annual Kickball Classic Tournament to Raise Funds for Peoples Oakland

Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) resident housestaff held their annual Kickball Classic fundraiser on May 19 at Sheraden Park. This year’s theme was “Don’t Stop Ball-ieving,” and the residents raised more than $1,000 to benefit Peoples Oakland, a recovery and wellness center for people living with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders. The event, organized by resident social action chair Nina Beizer, MD, featured a kickball tournament of five teams of residents and staff from Peoples Oakland and WPIC, with the winning team led by Melanie Cherry, PA. They also raffled off 18 gift baskets including prizes such as Attack Theatre tickets, various gift cards, an Amazon Echo, and a framed phrenology portrait. Special thanks go to everyone who donated prizes. All involved had a great time for a great cause!
