Kim Kirchner Named Outstanding Coordinator of the Year by UPMC Graduate Medical Education Committee

The UPMC Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) has named Kim Kirchner, C-TAGME, Director, Operations for the Office of Residency Training, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, as the 2018 Outstanding Coordinator of the Year. The chief residents nominate candidates for this award, which was presented at the GMEC Annual Coordinators Symposium held April 5, 2018. Kim was selected from coordinators among 139 UPMC programs.

Kim also serves as the current Program Administrators’ Caucus Chair for the American Association for Directors of Psychiatry Residency Training. She has worked in the Office of Residency Training since 2005, where she is responsible for day-to-day administration of the program and managing the daily Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements for residents and fellows. Kim serves as the first point of contact for trainees and faculty, and in the nomination it was noted that the chief residents consider her to be “the lifeblood of the Psychiatry training programs” and “always one of the first to volunteer and always looking for ways of improving herself, the Psychiatry Department, and medical education as a whole.” They also greatly appreciate her smile when they stop by.

Congratulations to Kim on this honor!
