Cecile Ladouceur, PhD Promoted to Associate Professor of Psychiatry by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Congratulations to Cecile Ladouceur, PhD on her promotion to the rank of Associate Professor of Psychiatry. Dr. Ladouceur is a nationally recognized expert in adolescent neurodevelopmental processes and affective disorders. She is also a gifted teacher and mentor who continues to positively impact the academic careers of students, trainees and junior faculty members.
A graduate of the University of Quebec in Montreal, Dr. Ladouceur received her PhD in psychology in 1999 and completed two pre-doctoral clinical internships in psychology and child psychiatry at Ste-Justine Hospital and Douglas Hospital in Canada. After completing a three-year postdoctoral fellowship, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, in developmental affective neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh, she was appointed to the Department of Psychiatry faculty in 2005.
Dr. Ladouceur's research employs a multimodal neuroimaging approach to investigate the development of neural systems supporting emotion regulation and how alterations in the development of these systems contribute to affective disorders such as anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. Her research portfolio includes a K01 career development award and R01 grant from the National Institute of Mental Health and two NARSAD awards. She is also the Co-Principal Investigator for two additional R01 projects and continues to serve Co-Investigator or Consultant for several other studies. In addition, Dr. Ladouceur has served as a Co-Investigator or Consultant for several other studies. She has disseminated her findings through presentations at annual meetings and conferences of professional societies in the United States, Canada, and Europe, and is first or senior author for 16 of over 45 peer-reviewed publications appearing in scientific and medical journals.
In addition to her extensive research activities, Dr. Ladouceur gives generously of her time to teaching, mentorship, and service to the academic community. Her Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience and Development Laboratory has been an important source of mentorship and training for graduate students, residents, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty pursuing research careers, and she is quite active in the Department's Career and Research Development Seminar. Dr. Ladouceur currently co-directs the Psychological Theories and Development Course for our first-year residents, and played a significant role in the design of this course. She also directs the Developmental Affective Science Collective (DASC), a group of collaborating researchers at the University of Pittsburgh conducting research on affective disorders and affective development. Dr. Ladouceur regularly reviews for several important journals in the field including Biological Psychiatry and the Archives of General Psychiatry, and has reviewed applications for the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation's Cognitive Neuroscience Program, and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
