AMA Excellence in Education Award

Dr. Jeremy Musher Accepts American Medical Association
CPT Panel's Educational Excellence Award on Behalf of the
American Psychiatric Association

Jeremy S. Musher, MDJeremy S. Musher, MD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, accepted the American Medical Association (AMA) CPT Panel's Educational Excellence Award along with his colleague, David Nace, MD, Vice President and Medical Director, McKesson Health Solutions.  The award is given in recognition of the specialty whose educational program and materials serve to inspire the expansion of educational programs for their membership.  Dr. Musher and his colleagues at the American Psychiatric Association have been actively engaged in educating psychiatrists on the use of new CPT codes and how to document them appropriately.

Dr. Musher is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and serves as the APA Advisor to both the AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee and the AMA CPT Advisory Committee.  These two AMA committees create, revise, and value the CPT codes all physicians use for billing purposes.  Since the adoption in January 2013 by the AMA and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of an entirely new set of Psychiatry codes, Dr. Musher has been working with the APA to educate its members on the importance and use of the new codes, and how to successfully document their work.
