ACGME Selects Cristin McDermott, MD for Membership
on the Psychiatry Residency Review Committee


The Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) has appointed Cristin McDermott, MD as a Resident Member of the organization?s Review Committee for Psychiatry. Dr. McDermott is a PGY3 resident in the Triple Board Program at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC (WPIC) and a member of the Academic Administrator Clinician Educator Track.

Dr. McDermott is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.  As a medical student she earned numerous awards in recognition of her teaching and community service activities including the Gold Humanism Honor Society, New England Pediatric Society Award, and the James M. Foster, MD Teaching Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education.  She began her residency at WPIC in 2012, where has been involved in initiatives to improve the quality of care and is an active member of the Residency Action Committee. Dr. McDermott is particularly interested in medical education, improving clinical practice, and decreasing mental health stigma.

As a member of the ACGME Resident Review Committee for Psychiatry, Dr. McDermott will serve for a term of two years. The committee serves as an advisory board to the ACGME concerning resident matters, and graduate medical education and accreditation.
