Daniel Buysse, MD, Honored by Harvard Medical School Division of Sleep Medicine

We are delighted to report that Daniel Buysse, MD (Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry, Medicine, and Clinical and Translational Science, and UPMC Endowed Chair in Sleep Medicine), has received the Harvard Medical School Division of Sleep Medicine 2023 Annual Prize. 

Dr. Buysse is an internationally recognized expert in sleep medicine research. His pivotal work on sleep disorders has set national and international practice standards for the diagnosis, assessment, pathophysiology, and treatment of insomnia.  The Prize celebrated “his rigorous research devoted to understanding and improving the lives of patients with insomnia; for broadly conceptualizing sleep health; for developing behavioral interventions for sleep problems; for recognizing the clinical importance of interactions between sleep and circadian rhythms; for his history of national and international leadership, serving as a president of both the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society; for his commitment to teaching and mentorship; and for serving as a role model of professionalism and generosity, modesty and kindness.”
