Richelle “Ricki” Stiffler, MSW, Named UPMC Dignity & Respect Champion

Congratulations to Richelle “Ricki” Stiffler, MSW, who has been named a 2026 UPMC Dignity & Respect Champion. The Dignity & Respect Champion Award recognizes individuals who foster a positive environment by making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and appreciated. Ricki is a Research Program Administrator with the Phillips Mood and Brain Lab (PI: Mary Phillips, MD).
Her nominator wrote:
“Ricki consistently exemplifies the principles of dignity and respect in every aspect of her leadership. She advocates for inclusive practices during team meetings, ensuring that every voice is heard, especially those of junior staff and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. Her commitment to fostering belonging is evident in how she tailors her management style to each team member, regularly asking how she can be a better boss and adjusting her approach based on individual needs. Ricki goes out of her way to recognize individual contributions. She is approachable for both work-related and personal matters and shows genuine care when life throws curveballs. Her support extends beyond the workplace. She actively champions the LGBTQ+ community, respectfully uses correct pronouns, and takes interest in the lives of her team members. Ricki's leadership is a model of dignity, respect, and inclusion and she sets the standard for what a positive, supportive workplace should look like.”
