Alumni of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship are applying the skills and experience gained from the fellowship to successfully take the next step in their careers and make an impact on the lives of individuals struggling with addiction and their families. Below is a sample of some of our fellows’ experiences during training and their diverse career pursuits.
Jan Carlos Ithier-Roman, MD participated in the fellowship from 2015-2016, during which time he focused his clinical experiences at the VA Healthcare System. He is currently pursuing a career in addiction psychiatry at the Veterans Administration in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Joseph Tasosa, MD focused on co-occurring disorders during the Addiction Psychiatry Clinical Fellowship (2015-2016). He is currently pursuing a career in general and addiction psychiatry with Kaiser Permanente in Falls Church, Virginia.
During his fellowship from 2013 to 2014, Stanley Samuel, MD was interested in the integration of pharmacological and psychosocial treatments for substance use disorders. He is currently pursuing a career in addiction psychiatry at Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, New York.
The fellowship activities of Richard Camacho, MD were concentrated on medication-assisted treatments for opioid use disorders (2012-2013). He is currently practicing addiction psychiatry and overseeing a methadone clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.
Kavara Vaughn, MD focused on co-occurring disorders during her time in the fellowship (2012-2013). She is currently pursuing a career in addiction psychiatry at Chestnut Ridge Hospital at West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia.
