Teaching Excellence

Each year the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine recognizes outstanding faculty contributions to medical education through several prestigious awards at its annual Curriculum Colloquium.  Honorees are selected by the Award Review Committee and the Dean, based on nominations by students and faculty. 

This year, Department of Psychiatry faculty garnered five awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to classroom and clinical teaching, mentoring, and innovation.

Clerkship Preceptor of the Year - Julie A. Graziane, MD
For excellence in teaching in required clerkships

Clinical Educator of the Year - Sarah DeBrunner, MD
For excellence in teaching in clinical electives

Award for Outstanding Mini-Elective - Lee K. Wolfson, MEd
For excellence in teaching in an MS1-2 mini-elective

Sheldon Adler Award for Innovation in Medical Education - Pierre N. Azzam, MD
For individual achievement in innovation in medical education

Kenneth Schuit Award for the Dean's Master Educator - Antoine Douaihy, MD
For education-related contributions to the curriculum
