Stephanie Stepp, PhD Promoted to Associate Professor of Psychiatry by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has promoted Stephanie Stepp, PhD to the rank of Associate Professor of Psychiatry.
Dr. Stepp earned a Master?s degree and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Missouri. She is also a graduate of the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) Psychology Internship Program and obtained additional training as a postdoctoral scholar in the federally funded Clinical Research Training for Psychologists program at the University of Pittsburgh.
In 2009 Dr. Stepp was appointed to the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry where she has been active as a researcher, clinician, and mentor.
Dr. Stepp's research focuses on risk factors for the development of borderline personality disorder in children and adolescents. She is also interested in statistical methods to model longitudinal data and improve assessment instruments. Dr. Stepp is currently the Principal Investigator of an R01 project to examine family responses to emotion in order to better understand the development of personality and personality disorders and is collaborating as a Co-Investigator on numerous other externally sponsored projects. Her publications include over 60 peer reviewed articles appearing in journals including the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry and the Journal of Personality Disorders, and several book chapters and abstracts. Dr. Stepp has also disseminated her findings through presentations at numerous annual meetings and conferences hosted by professional societies and scientific organizations in the United States and Canada.
In addition to her extensive research activities, Dr. Stepp has developed a reputation as an excellent clinical psychologist and a gifted teacher and mentor.
