Assistant Director of Research Hermi Woodward
Presented with Award for Distinguished Service to the Research Community

Hermi Woodward has been presented with the Award for Distinguished Service to the Research Community for her dedication and exemplary service to the Department of Psychiatry and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC (WPIC). Dr. David Lewis, Chair of the Department, and Medical Director and Director of Research for WPIC highlighted Hermi?s many accomplishments and presented her with the award at the Department?s 17th Annual Research Day.

?Hermi has provided wise guidance on the most vexing of issues and developed initiatives that gained and secured our success in multiple areas,? noted Dr. Lewis as he presented her with the award.

Since her appointment as the Assistant Director of Research in 2004, Hermi has worked closely with the Director of Research and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry to identify areas for development, build and maintain a supportive infrastructure for investigators, and administer resources and externally funded projects. Prior to joining the Department, Hermi served as a Research Network Administrator for national research initiatives funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and as the Administrator for the Mental Health Intervention Research Center for Mood and Anxiety Disorders funded by the National Institute for Mental Health. Hermi has established a well-deserved reputation as an outstanding research collaborator, a thoughtful mentor, and a highly skilled administrator, and we look forward to her future contributions to the Department?s success.
