Flux International Congress
Inaugural Flux International Congress
for Integrative Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience
Spearheaded by Dr. Beatriz Luna, Staunton Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics and Professor of Psychology, the inaugural meeting of the Flux International Congress for Integrative Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience was highly successful and very productive. The aim of the meeting, which was held September 19-21, 2013, at the Wyndham Grand Hotel across from the Point in downtown Pittsburgh, was to bring together researchers in the field for the first time in a specialized forum. The 182 attendees heard 32 accomplished speakers from diverse disciplines and viewed 90 posters. The theme of the meeting was mechanisms of brain development, and topics ranged from connectivity, cognition and motivation, to methodological approaches.
The event opened many opportunities for collaborations, and inspired a series of new research endeavors. The journal of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience will be publishing a special issue based on research presented at Flux, and there is already much enthusiasm for next year’s meeting. One attendee commented “…the conference was such a great booster shot of research energy and ideas for me. It was fabulous to meet people I’ve admired from afar, and to hear about the latest great things…”
