8th Annual Clinician Educator Showcase

Featuring Experts from the Department of Psychiatry and UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital

On October 10, 2019 the Department of Psychiatry and UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital will host the 8th Annual Clinician Educator Showcase. The Showcase provides an important venue for highlighting the many clinical innovations implemented by our faculty and staff and sharing information and strategies on career development and quality improvement initiatives.  The Showcase includes an interactive plenary session, breakout sessions on career development and clinical topics, as well as an abundance of opportunities throughout the day to network and reconnect with colleagues.

  • INFORMAL LUNCHTIME ROUND TABLES led by our experts and focusing on time management, career development and promotion, and establishing effective mentoring teams.

  • POSTER and SPEED DAT(A)ING SESSIONS highlighting a broad array of clinical and educational innovations by our talented clinician educators.

  • BATTLE OF THE CLINICIAN EDUCATORS Which approach is more effective for sharing and disseminating information – Pechakucha vs. Chalk Talk? Drs. Jason Rosenstock and Jamie Tew battle it out. Who will win? You decide!

  • PLENARY presentation on “Converting Tension into Teams: Making Interdisciplinary Behavioral Health Care Effective“ by Camellia Herisko, DNP, RN, PMHCNS-BC, CRNP, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Operations & Patient Care Services, UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital.

  • INTERACTIVE BREAKOUT SESSIONS to enhance your skills, provide you with the tools to improve and enhance clinical care, and to communicate more effectively with patients, families and colleagues.

This half-day event is attended by faculty, clinicians, staff, and trainees in the Department of Psychiatry and UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital and our community partners. Not only is the Showcase an important venue for learning and dissemination, it also offers opportunities throughout the day to network, reconnect with colleagues, and learn more about the many academic and clinical programs within the Department and Western Psychiatric Hospital.
